07/17/04: Tribal Update: Update on Hernan

Hello Folks:

Just a short while back, I wrote and asked you to pray for Hernan, one of our main Tribal Bible teachers. One of his brothers had let his arrow fly, killing a rancher's pig, and had sent some of the meat over to Hernan's place. And Hernan, had eaten some of it. (What still isn't clear though is if he knew whether it was stolen or not) Anyway, as the Tribal rumor mill began to churn, many of the believers were talking about this, that he had eaten stolen meat. It was at this point that he became somewhat discouraged and came before the church leaders, asking them for advice. What should he do? Should he stop teaching or not? Well, after discussing the situation further, they advised him to continue to teach. He did stop for a week but is now totally back in the saddle. Our Venezuelan co-workers wrote saying that he is very encouraged and that he is giving some rich and powerful teaching to the church from I Timothy 6. So thanks so very much for praying for Hernan.

And one more thing, Hernan continues to meet with and disciple five different individuals. Pray that he will reproduce himself spiritually and be able to effectively train these fellows, just as the apostle Paul trained Timothy and Titus and others. These five guys are: Rafael Ulacio, Mateo Perez, Juan Pablo, Negro Moreno, Dande, and Jaui.
