Current Tribal Update
3/20/2005: Back to school!!!

Hello Everyone:

Life has been incredibly busy since returning to Venezuela....and most profitable too!!  It's kind of like we are back in school again!  We had the privilege of attending a two-week translation seminar and that was a huge help as we look to get going on the book of Romans.  After that, we took off with several other missionary families on a long road trip for the state of Merida in the Andes Mountains (2600 kilometers round trip) where we attended a large Urbana-like Missions Conference.  There were many different speakers and we had the opportunity to share too on contextualization and the need to really prepare for ministry before we just jump in and start teaching.  Was great to see all the Venezuelans who are interested in Missions.  God is raising up many laborers for His harvest.

Well, as soon as we got home from that, we started right in on another seminar on Culture and Language Acquisition. This is mainly so we will be able to give more effective help in these areas to our new missionaries on the field who are facing these obstacles.  And now tomorrow, we fly way south into the state of Amazonas into the rain forest to attend yet another seminar on how to transition over from analogue to digital with the many Tribal teaching tapes that have been made down through the years.

So anyway, once all this "schooling" is over with, we will be heading back to our safe rendezvous site where we will be meeting once again with five different Tribal pastors and their wives to continue to disciple them.  They need encouragement as the churches have been reeling from the tragedy of so many deaths among the children.  However, it has been good to hear from many of them as they have shared of their staunch faith in Christ....and that they know that there is much "bad" in this world due to the fact that it has become "angry" because of sin .  So yes, we sure are looking forward to hanging with our Tribal brethren once again!!

Please Pray:

-for continued health and strength.  Teresa and I have both been sick with a nasty virus and have been on antibiotics.  After taking my full treatment, I went off and three days later I'm sick again with infection in my lungs. So a big thanks for praying for our health. And just to let you know that my ankle is much improved after I sprained it the day we arrived in the country here. Thanks for praying.
-for the upcoming rendezvous with five Tribal pastors and their families, that we will all grow together and be truly strengthened in our spirits from this time of fellowship around our dear Father, our Older Brother (Jesus), and their precious Word
-for the encouragement of the many other Tribal believers, that they will continue to grow tall and strong in their spirits

Thanks again so much for being a part of the team.  We do so appreciate each one of you.

Enjoying the adventure in Christ,
Merrill and Teresa
